Affirmation. What is an affirmation? An Affirmation is a statement asserting the existence or the truth of something.
Now I did not know really what an affirmation was until I was introduced to The Secret in March 2009. Only to realize that I have been making affirmations and did not know I was doing it. As I look back now, the affirmations that I remember making came to pass.
Affirmation #1. I presently reside on a beautiful island called Tortola in the territory British Virgin Islands and in 2004 I worked at an automobile company that was located on the coast line. Every morning and evening during our cruise ship season, which runs from April to October, I would see cruise ships cruise into and depart our port. On many occasion I would say “I must go on a cruise before I die.” Many people heard me saying that. I was in awe to see these magnificent ships cruise into our territory. May times my co-worker would call out to me just to see the ships sailing by.
Even though I said the affirmation, I did now really know how I would accumulate the money to do this – actually was not really making any plans to do so. You see in my native country, Trinidad and Tobago, I always thought that it was a luxury to go on a cruise and it was financial out of my reach to do so. In the British Virgin Islands, it was still a bit difficult.
Until in 2006 I was involved in a business opportunity and they had a site that allowed its members to go on cruises at reasonable prices. When I saw their prices, I realized that I could do this. I put my plans into gear.
To reinforce my affirmation, my son purchased a digital camera for me for my birthday one year and I started taking photos of the cruise ships every chance that I got. They just fascinated me.
In September 2006, my fiancé and I were on our way to first cruise, in the Caribbean, for five day. It was a life time experience.
Affirmation #2: About 13 years ago, I decided that I wanted to learn about Accounts. I was in a Financial Accounting department of a telephone company, but I had no formal training. I got no where in that department. In the first 7 years in the BVI, my job was an Office Manager but my responsibilities was mostly Accounting. I learned a great deal, enjoyed my job and am grateful for what I learned. On many occasions, I said that I wanted to learn how different companies performed their accounting systems.
Well now to date I have a private customer (they own a private villa resort) and I do their book keeping. I now work for another company (a retail stationary store) and their accounting system is a bit different. I am proud to say that I have had the opportunity to learn three different accounting systems and mastered them!!!
Affirmation #3: One day, during my lunch hour, I went to my favorite spot – Brandywine Bay, and as I relaxed, I closed my eyes and said to myself, “I just want to be happy and at peace.” I then fell into a light sleep. That night I had a dream about the Lord saying to me that I should change my tone to “I AM HAPPY AND I AM AT PEACE!!!” That same week I completed reading The Secret book and the last chapter said affirmative words should be used. If you have read the book, the paragraph is on page 168 and it goes like this:
Knowing this, wouldn’t it be a good idea to be begin to use the two most powerful words, I AM, to your advantage? How about, “I AM receiving every good thing. I AM happy. I AM abundant. I AM healthy. I AM love. I AM always on time. I AM eternal youth. I AM filled with energy every single day.”
Isn’t that awesome??? I was flabbergasted because this is exactly what I dreamt about. I then knew that the secret is no joke and it is something real and extremely powerful for me!!!
I did all this unaware of what I was doing. Now that I AM aware, thanks to another program (SGR), I can do my affirmations intentionally.
I current affirmation is to early my annual salary in one month ($36k)!!
