Men aren’t the only ones who like to fix the problem and dive straight into the solution. When it comes to business, sooner or later we all fall into the trap of searching for the formula that will fix our latest crisis fast.

On the other hand, there can be the problem of so many solutions swirling around in your head that you find it hard to nail one down. Anytime you search for a strategy that can potentially impact your business in a profound way, it can be a recipe for disaster.

Here’s what happens:

You get a juicy idea you want to implement or decide to correct an ongoing pain in the bum problem.
You think of possible ways to get it to work.
You stumble on one or more parts of the best solution and get stuck.
You work your brain harder to figure it out.
You get irritated from thinking too hard or putting the solution into place only to find out it still isn’t working.
You complain about the issue and begin to make assumptions about how things work based on this unsuccessful solution.
The cycle begins again.

Here’s what needs to happen:

You get a juicy idea you want to implement or decide to correct an ongoing pain in the bum problem.
Get very specific about what the ideal solution will provide. What does it need to address, cut out, make simpler, etc. And when you find the ideal solution what will be different in your business as a result? If you have team members or a coach/mentor, ask them to assist you in this step.
If you have any resistance (fear, frustration, low self-confidence, attachment) to this issue, find a way to diffuse your energy before moving on.
Check out any limiting beliefs you may have about what is possible regarding this problem or idea working out in an ideal way. Challenge your thinking by deciding that you will ONLY settle for the ideal outcome.
Ask for help. Who can make this easy or show you how to best implement your solution?
Take your time. I don’t care how big the fire is, if you aimlessly throw water on it, you’ll be wasting your energy. Let go of any pressure to fix it fast. You must move forward with a level head and do it right the first time. Don’t compromise the quality of the desired outcome.
Chunk down the action items into bite size pieces.
Trust that if you feel good about what you’ve decided and done, you’ll have a great outcome.

Remember, mindset trumps any strategy. If you put all of your emphasis on the perfect strategy and don’t change the way you relate to your business, you’ll have ongoing setbacks. Mindset is key. Then you’ll move forward plucking your ideal solution out of the thousands available to you. Trust your choice or don’t do it.
